Guess the Number is a guess-the-number game online in the plainest sense: a hidden three-digit number, seven attempts, and a higher-or-lower hint after every one. It is also the only paid game on Gift Club where how well you play changes what you are paid. Every other game here pays 95% whatever you do. This one pays 95% if you play it properly, and less if you do not.
How to play Guess the Number
- Open Guess the Number in the Games hub. Launch Gift Club inside Telegram, open Games and pick Guess the Number.
- Pick a risk level. Low gives you a span of 200 numbers to search; medium gives you 500. Both give you the same seven guesses, which is why the payouts differ so much.
- Choose a stake. Stakes are 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 Stars. The multiplier depends on the risk level, never on the stake.
- Guess, and read the hint. Every guess comes back higher or lower. Always guess the midpoint of what is still possible — that is not a preference, it is the play the payout was priced on.
- Find it inside seven guesses. Hit the number and you are paid 1.4961× on low or 3.7402× on medium. Run out of guesses and the stake is lost.

Guess the Number pros and cons
Pros
- Skill genuinely matters — the only paid game here where that is true
- Both risk levels return the same 95%, so the choice is pure volatility
- Low risk wins 63.50% of rounds under correct play, the highest win rate on the site
- The hidden number is committed to a seed before your first guess and cannot move
- A free XP mode with the same rules, worth 5 XP on low and 15 on medium
Cons
- Sloppy guessing costs you real money — a lazy search is a lower return, not just a lost round
- Seven guesses cannot cover either span, so some rounds are unwinnable from the start
- Only two risk levels, so there is no fine tuning between 1.4961× and 3.7402×
- The ceiling is low: 3.7402× is the largest multiplier in the game
Seven guesses buys you 127 numbers
A higher-or-lower hint halves the range that is still possible. One guess resolves one candidate, two resolve three, three resolve seven, and so on doubling and adding one each time. Seven guesses resolve 127.
That is the entire mathematics of the game, and it has a consequence people find uncomfortable: the spans are 200 and 500, both larger than 127. So a fraction of rounds cannot be won by anyone, however good they are — on low, 63.50% of rounds are winnable and the rest are not; on medium, 25.40% are. The multipliers are 95% divided by those figures, which is how two very different-looking levels pay the same return.
Play the midpoint, every time
The optimal strategy is not a secret and it is not clever: guess the middle of whatever range is still alive. If the window is 342 to 541, guess 441. Told "higher", the window becomes 442 to 541 and you guess 491. Keep halving.
The reason to be strict about it is financial rather than aesthetic. The multiplier was priced on the assumption that you halve the range every time. Guess 350 into a 200-wide window because it feels like a round number and, told "higher", you have removed 8 candidates instead of about 100. You have spent one of seven guesses and bought almost nothing with it. Do that twice in a round and a 63.50% shot is no longer a 63.50% shot — but the price you paid for it has not changed.
This is the one place on the site where "the house edge is 5%" needs a caveat. It is 5% against a player who halves correctly. Against a player who guesses birthdays, it is whatever their guessing is worth.
The window slides, and that is cosmetic
The round does not always start at 1. The span is dropped somewhere inside 100 to 999, so one round is 342 to 541 and the next is 187 to 386. Both are 200 wide. The span never changes, so neither the win chance nor the multiplier moves — all that changes is the digits on screen.
The point of it is that a three-digit window reads as a code to crack rather than a count to run through, and it stops the habit of opening every round with the same first guess. It confers no advantage and costs none: treat the displayed bounds as your starting range and halve from there.
Low or medium?
Because both return 95%, this is purely a question of what you want a session to feel like.
- Low (200, 1.4961×): you win most rounds — 63.50% — and win small. The closest thing on the site to a grind, and the level where a correct search is most likely to be rewarded within a short session.
- Medium (500, 3.7402×): you lose about three rounds in four and the wins nearly quadruple the stake. Same money over time, much longer swings.
One thing worth noticing: medium is where sloppy play hurts most. With 500 candidates and 7 guesses there is no slack at all — every guess has to halve or the round is dead before the seventh.
Is the number really fixed before you start?
Yes, and that is the property that makes the game checkable. The target and the window are drawn from a server seed committed before your first guess, combined with your client seed and a round counter. Nothing can move the number because you got close. Once the seed is revealed you can recompute the round yourself — provably fair verification covers how.
Where it sits against the other games
- Compared with Higher or Lower: both run on hints, but Higher or Lower asks you to bet on the next card while this asks you to search a fixed space. The search is solvable; the card is not.
- Compared with Keno: identical return, opposite character. Keno gives you nothing to do after the stake; this gives you seven decisions that all matter.
- Compared with Minefield: Minefield decisions change your variance but not your expected return. Here they change both.
Guess the Number FAQ
What are the odds of winning Guess the Number?
Under optimal play, 63.50% on low risk and 25.40% on medium. Seven guesses with higher-or-lower hints resolve 127 candidates, and the spans are 200 and 500, so those fractions are exactly 127 divided by the span.
What is the best strategy for a number guessing game?
Always guess the midpoint of the range that is still possible. Each hint halves what is left, so halving is the only strategy that uses all seven guesses efficiently. Guessing round numbers or hunches removes far fewer candidates and lowers your real return below the 95% the multiplier was priced on.
How much does Guess the Number pay?
1.4961× the stake on low risk and 3.7402× on medium. At 100 Stars that averages 149.61 and 374.02 Stars, settled to a whole Star by a weighted rounding draw. Both levels return the same 95% over time, because the multiplier is set to 95% divided by the win chance.
Why is the number three digits instead of starting at 1?
The window slides: the span is dropped somewhere between 100 and 999, so one round runs 342 to 541 and the next 187 to 386. The width never changes, so the odds and the multiplier are identical. It only stops every round opening with the same first guess.
Can I play Guess the Number for free?
Yes. The free mode has the same spans and the same seven guesses and pays XP instead of Stars — 5 XP on low and 15 on medium.
Play within your limits. Paid rounds cost Telegram Stars and every game on Gift Club is built so the house keeps a margin — over enough rounds the maths runs against you, by design. Stars cannot be converted back into money. Treat paid play as entertainment you have budgeted for, set a limit before you start, and use the free XP mode whenever you just want to play. Gift Club is 18+.
