Online Advent Calendar: Make One and Send It as a Link

This online advent calendar maker turns a short message for each day of December into one link. Whoever opens it gets a calendar with a door for every day, and each door opens at midnight on its date, by the clock on their own phone. It is free, needs no account, and the messages travel inside the link rather than being stored by us.

How to make an online advent calendar

1. Write who the calendar is for and who it is from. Both are optional.
2. Choose 24 doors, to Christmas Eve, or 31 doors, to New Year's Eve.
3. Write a short message behind each door, or press Fill empty doors with ideas and edit them.
4. Press Preview to see every door the way they will, then Make the link.
5. Send the link with Copy link or Send in Telegram. Each door opens on its own day of December.

24 doors or 31?

A traditional advent calendar counts down to Christmas, so most run from 1 to 24 December and the last door is Christmas Eve. Where New Year is the big winter celebration, as in much of Central Asia, a calendar that runs to 31 December fits better. Ukraine has celebrated Christmas on 25 December since 2023, so the 24-door version lines up there too. Pick the one that matches the evening you are counting down to.

What to put behind each door

• Small tasks for the day: a walk, a call, a film to pick, one drawer to tidy. The ideas button fills empty doors with 31 of these to edit.
• Memories: one line about a day you spent together, a door at a time.
• Jokes and questions: the kind that start a conversation in the chat.
• A plan: doors that build up to something, such as the date of a visit or the place you will meet.

Keep each door short: up to 120 characters. All the doors travel in one link, and a link has to fit in a Telegram message, which is capped at 4,096 characters. If yours is too long, the page says so before you send it.

How the doors lock, honestly

A door opens at midnight on its date by the recipient's device clock, and opened doors stay open. The messages are inside the link, after the #, a part of an address browsers never send to a server, so we never see them. That also means the lock is a surprise, not a safe: someone who changes their phone's clock can read ahead. For a calendar between friends, that is the right trade.
