You can also sell it for Stars in the app, or move it to a TON wallet and trade it in Gram.

What are Telegram NFT gifts?
A standard gift is a virtual item you buy with Telegram Stars and send to a friend. Telegram's own announcement says a received gift can be upgraded to a collectible with special attributes. The upgrade picks one of dozens of looks drawn by Telegram's artists and gives the gift a random background colour, icon and number. Telegram counted more than 20 upgradable gifts and over 1,400 unique appearances when it launched the feature.
Three things set a collectible apart from an ordinary gift:
- Unique attributes. Model, backdrop and symbol are random, and some combinations are rarer than others.
- A number. Each collectible carries its own number within its collection.
- Trading. It can be transferred, sold for Stars in Telegram, or auctioned on NFT marketplaces.

How do Telegram gifts work as NFTs?
The gift lives in your Telegram account first. Telegram holds it and shows it on your profile, and the in-app actions (upgrade, transfer, sell) work on it there. Telegram's developer documentation describes export to the TON blockchain as a separate step that opens a Fragment import page and asks for your two-step-verification password, and it can be unavailable until a date Telegram sets per gift. After the export it is a TON NFT in your own wallet.
- Received or bought as a standard gift.
- Upgraded for a Stars fee into a collectible.
- Sold or transferred inside Telegram, if you want.
- Optionally exported to a TON wallet through Fragment.
How to get a Telegram NFT gift
Upgrade a gift you own
Open the gift in your profile and tap Upgrade. You pay in Stars (the amount is per gift and shown before you confirm), and the new look is random. A sender can also prepay the upgrade, or send a gift already upgraded.
Buy on Telegram's in-app marketplace
Since May 2025 you can buy collectibles from other users for Stars. In the gift shop, use the Resale filter and narrow by model, backdrop and symbol.
Buy on a TON marketplace

Win one in a mini-app
Mini-apps with gift boxes can pay out Telegram gifts as prizes. Gift Club is one: some box prizes are real Telegram gifts. The prize is a gift you then manage in Telegram like any other. The marketplace comparison sets that route against buying.
What makes a Telegram NFT gift rare?
Telegram's API gives every model, backdrop and pattern its own rarity, so rarity is a property of each attribute, not just of the collection. A low number, a scarce backdrop or a rare model usually lists above the cheapest copy of the same gift. Telegram publishes no one tier table, so treat any chart that claims exact drop percentages with caution. Our rarity chart covers specific examples.
How to check a Telegram NFT gift's price
There is no official appraisal. Searches for a "market price checker" are really searches for what comparable copies are listed or sold at.
- Open the in-app marketplace and filter by the same gift, model and backdrop. The lowest listing is the floor for that combination, in Stars.
- Check TON marketplaces such as Fragment and Getgems for the same collection, priced in Gram. Gram moves with the market, so compare in dollars at the time you look.
- Look at sold prices, not asking prices. A listing is a wish; a completed sale is a price.
- Subtract the cut. A Stars sale pays you 80% and a Gram sale 90% of the price by Telegram's defaults (details on the sell guide).
Third-party trackers also list floors per model and backdrop. They are not Telegram's, so check any figure against a live listing before you rely on it.

- Telegram's in-app marketplace. Stars, no wallet. Sell from the gift's page with Sell and set a price in Stars; Unlist cancels it.
- Fragment. Telegram's partner marketplace on TON, priced in Gram, and the page Telegram's export flow hands you to.
- Getgems. A TON NFT marketplace where exported gifts are listed.

How do I move a Telegram NFT gift to a TON wallet?
- Set up a TON wallet such as Tonkeeper, or the wallet in Telegram where it is offered.
- Check the gift is exportable. Telegram can set a date before which a gift can't be exported.
- Start the export from the gift and follow the Fragment import page, which asks for your two-step-verification password.
- Confirm in your wallet and wait for the on-chain confirmation.
Before you export, consider that a gift held in Telegram can still be sold for Stars in a tap, and that you become the only guardian of the wallet's seed phrase afterwards. Exchange rates between Stars and Gram are covered in Telegram Stars vs TON (Gram).
Risks and scams
- Seed phrases. Telegram never asks for yours, and it cannot recover a wallet-held gift.
- Fake "gift drop" and "verify your wallet" pages. A site that wants a wallet connection to "claim" an NFT is the usual phishing route.
- Price swings. A collectible's value is whatever a buyer will pay today; treat it as a collectible, not a savings plan.
- Tax. Rules differ by country and we can't advise on yours. Keep a record of what you bought and sold.
