What does a valid tambola ticket look like?

A tambola ticket has 3 rows and 9 columns and holds 15 numbers. Every row has exactly 5 numbers and 4 blanks. Each column covers one range: the first holds 1 to 9, the second 10 to 19, and so on, with the last holding 80 to 90. A column has at least one number and at most three, and the numbers in a column go up from top to bottom. Every ticket this page makes follows all of those rules.

What is a full sheet of tambola tickets?

A full sheet is 6 tickets that between them use every number from 1 to 90 once. That is how printed housie books are made, and it has a useful property: a player holding a whole sheet marks exactly one number on every call. Set the count to a multiple of 6 and every group of 6 tickets here is a full sheet. Tickets from different sheets can share numbers, just as tickets from different books do.

Tambola rules and the usual prizes

The caller draws numbers from 1 to 90 one at a time, and players mark them on their tickets. The group agrees the prizes before the first call. The common ones are:

    • Early five: the first player to mark any 5 numbers.
    • Top line, middle line, bottom line: all 5 numbers in that row.
    • Four corners: the first and last numbers of the top and bottom rows.
    • Full house: all 15 numbers on the ticket. This usually ends the game.

A claim only counts on numbers that have actually been called, so check it against the caller's board before you hand anything over. Many groups also agree that a claim must be made before the next number is called.

How to play tambola online with friends

Use Copy as text to paste the tickets into a group chat, one per player, and run the number caller on a video call so everyone hears the numbers. The text keeps the columns lined up inside a code block in Telegram and most other chats. If you are playing in one room, print the tickets: the print page shows only the tickets, two to a row.

Tambola, housie and bingo: the same game?

Tambola and housie are two names for the same game, 90-ball bingo on a 3 by 9 ticket. The bingo usually played in the United States uses 75 numbers on a 5 by 5 card, so its cards will not work with this caller. Keno also draws numbers, but it is a different game: players pick their own numbers before the draw instead of marking a printed ticket.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this tambola ticket generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no payment, and it runs in your browser on a phone or a computer.

How many numbers are on a tambola ticket?

15: three rows of five, spread across nine columns, with 1 to 3 numbers in each column.

Can two tickets have the same numbers?

Not within one full sheet of 6: each number from 1 to 90 appears on exactly one of its tickets. Tickets from different sheets can share numbers, as in any printed book.

Does the number caller ever repeat a number?

No. It shuffles 1 to 90 once at the start of each game and calls them in that order, so every number comes up exactly once. New game starts a fresh shuffle.

    Can we play without printing?

Yes. Copy as text gives you the tickets as lined-up text to paste into a group chat, and players mark them on paper or a screenshot while you run the caller.

Do you save the tickets or the numbers?

No. Tickets and the calling order exist only on the open page and are gone when you reload or close it. Print or copy the tickets you want to keep.
