What happens when you cancel Telegram Premium?

Cancelling stops future payments. You keep every Premium feature until the end of the billing period you already paid for, and then it expires. After that:

• The first 5 pinned chats stay and the rest are unpinned.
• GIFs past 200 are hidden.
• The first 70 characters of your bio stay visible.
• Downloads run at standard speed and the badge disappears.

Does deleting Telegram cancel Premium?

No. Telegram states that uninstalling the app, or not opening it for a while, doesn't cancel or pause your subscription, and you'll be billed on the original renewal date.

Deleting the account is different, and depends on the provider. For a @PremiumBot subscription, deleting the account ends recurring payments because the bot can no longer charge it, but the unused part of the billing period isn't refunded. For an App Store or Google Play subscription you still have to cancel in your Apple or Google settings, because those platforms may keep charging even after the Telegram account is gone.

Can you get a refund on Telegram Premium?

Telegram's FAQ doesn't describe a refund process. What it does say is that an unused portion isn't refunded when you delete an account. Purchases go through Apple, Google or a payment provider, so a refund request goes to whoever charged you.

What about a gifted subscription?

Telegram describes gifts as prepaid subscriptions for 3, 6 or 12 months, so the person who sent it has already paid for the whole period.
